Good morning. Good morning and welcome to Mike Stewart dot live. I hope folks are having a good holiday season this year in 2020. The craziest year I can remember in my life. But any right here it is another episode of Mike Stewart dot live. And today I want to talk about audio and things that I’m doing with audio and microphones for 2020 people are getting in their seats. Take a look. See here we got. There’s my good buddy, Dr. Bill Lampton How you doing? Bill ready to hear some advice from, you know, no need to change on the snowball, but we’re going to talk about the different microphones available. Any questions, comments, you can put them in the comments area, and I will add them and address to them after I go through what I prepared for you guys today. So anyway, um, number one, um, here’s what the the presentation is called. It’s called microphones and audio editing and sweetening overview primer for 2020. And, number one, I want to talk to you about what I started getting interested in audio as a kid, obviously, my hero was the Beatles and all those great recordings. And in fact, here’s some pictures. You know, when I started reading, recording magazines and studying about audio back in the 70s, and the 80s. I’d see these pictures of the Beatles and they were all around this big big microphone called. And I found that it was called a Neumann u 47. And in fact, I learned that that was a microphone that was built in Germany was invented back in the 30s and 40s. By Telefunken, and of course, all those great Frank Sinatra records, you can see there’s a picture of Frank Sinatra. More importantly, you know, what was it about this microphone? Why did they use such a large microphone to do the vocals? Well, we all learned early on that large diaphragm tube microphones and condenser microphones, those are the type of microphones they were the best for recording the human voice. And of course, you can see that’s, you know, who my mentors were using. So, you know, I thought, well, I’m gonna, I want to try to get me one of these, you 40 sevens? Well, as you can see, I just recently looked at this is a USD u 47 $17,000. It’s for sale right now today, you 47 vintage Newman, like the ones that Beatles use. And like the ones Frank Sinatra used,

I thought, well,

seven, you know, and they, you can get them for around $5,000, four to $5,000. And evidently, because this is a vintage old, original. It commands a higher price is a little out of my comfort zone of paying that kind of money for a microphone, I said, There’s got to be another way of using microphones. That’s not that expensive. So let’s talk about the different microphones that are available today in the different technologies that you can use, you know, well, here’s one of the things mics are better today, and they’re cheaper today. These are some of my favorite microphones that are what are called USB microphones. And you know, one of the tried and true microphones that I’m speaking over right now is the USB. I mean, the Audio Technica 2020 that’s it on the left there. And then the Yeti snowballs, Yeti snowballs, make all kinds of microphones, those are fine microphones and their USB microphones. Microphone I recently bought is called the road NT Mini. That’s it right there in the middle. And I am really blown away 99 bucks. That’s the microphone I bought to put in my computer bag to take with me. So if I need to do any computer audio, or live streaming or anything that I need to do, I have that portable microphone. So if you’ve not bought a microphone, I am blown away with the quality of the NT rode our od e mini that’s the one in the middle. And then a lot of folks a lot of people are using what are called XLR microphones. And the reason I’ve got that up there is you can see the cables down there at the bottom that have the three pins. I’ll put my mouse over here. You can see right there, those for those of you watching the video and if you’re listening to the podcast, an XLR connector is not USB. You have to have a mixer to plug into your computer or any kind of device but these are traditional the Way microphones were built, you know, for years and years using the three pin XLR connector. And that is a Shure microphone, and it’s a great one. And in fact, I’m going to buy one of those, I still have an audio technica 2020. That’s what I’m talking on right now. If I was to pull up my video right here, you can see, you can see that. Let me see if I bring it over here. I can’t say there it is. That’s the microphone I’m talking on right now. And it is still a great, great microphone. So we’ve kind of talked about microphones, that little blue box there that is what’s the Shure microphone needs what’s called a preamp booster. And so in other words, XLR for most applications is really a more advanced level, you can do just fine with either the 8020 USB, any of the Yeti, like the snowball blue or the Yeti like that one. And now this new NTR, rode for 2021. That’s one I was pretty impressed with. Now computer software is it’s soft, it’s free, and it’s cheap. A lot of folks love audacity, audacity works on a Mac or on a PC. There’s a zillion tutorials for audacity on the internet. You can do amazing work with audacity, I’m not a fan of it. Because I started with on PC with Sony software, audio studio, they’re now up to version 14. And then of course, if you’re on a Mac GarageBand comes on all Macs for free and GarageBand is amazing software. So if you’re on Mac GarageBand or audacity are both great resources, they’re both free. Um, when it comes to audio on a PC, I am going to be demoing and showing you audio studio. I’m still using audio studio because I’ve been using it for years. There’s nothing I can’t do with audio studio. And that’s the software’s I recommend. These are the basic audio skills that you’ve got to master. Number one, you need to get the good microphone working with your computer. And then you need to know how to hit the record button. And then we’re going to talk about marking mistakes. And the ways I used to do it before software got more advanced, and then going to talk about normalization.

And then the format to save audio for the internet which is especially what I call the podcast resolution which is 44.1 which is the resolution or the quality 16 bit 128 bits per second 16 bit is there’s there’s higher bit rates. 16 bit is perfect for podcasts and internet audio. And 128 is what’s called the stream, right that’s the internet connection you need to have for this audio to string. So I’m gonna pull up my camera right now I’m gonna stop showing. And this is what we used to call a clicker we used to use this before software with market. fact this is from my old web design company here you can see sound pages.com. And what this thing would do would make a click. And that’s how we used to mark mistakes. And let me go ahead and share my screen on Sound Forge. Here we go or audio studio. This is what I’m used to using. And I’m going to do these basic demos of how you mark an edit in an audio editing program. And pretty much all of the same audio programs work exactly the same way. So for instance, right up here in the corner, I have a record button, all programs is going to do that. And let me show you hit record. And one of the things that you can do, you know, you should have some sort of level meters. These right here, green going up and down, are letting me know that my microphone is working. And when I hit the record button right here, this red button, it will start recording. So let me show you how you start recording. I am now recording audio for a podcast. I’m now recording audio for a video voiceover I’m now recording narration that’s going to be an audiobook any oops, I made a mistake. I did a click that marked it. I did a thumb snap that marked it. And then on my keyboard I can hit the letter M for Mark. That’s what software added years later. Now let’s close this or stop it. You can see there, that right there was the clicker. And that right there was my thumb snap. And then down there on the end that the letter one is the software marking. So the whole purpose of making marks is that when you make a mistake, you, you do what’s called a pickup. So in other words, I knew the mistake was here, because I marked it. And then I know that right, here’s where the pickup is. So if I highlight the mistake, and I go to edit, and I cut it out, that takes out the mistakes. And if I made a mistake, I can undo it and bring it back. That’s called non destructive editing. And then until I save the file with my edits, so one of the things I always used to teach people do is the first thing you want to do is save your file in a folder, so you make a folder for your project. So let’s go here and do this now. Audio project, whatever you name it. And I go in here, and I save whatever the name of this file is, this is demo podcast on edited. So in other words, I want to save an unedited, 128. mp3. That’s what I want to say, you could save it as what’s called a WAV or an AI file at high resolution. But you don’t need to, you’re just taking up a lot of hard drive space. So if you save everything at mp3 128, CD quality, whatever your program is, save it now you’ve got an unedited version. Now, if you make a mistake on your edits, you can always get it back. That’s the reason I always did it that way. So I look at my marks, I don’t even have to remember where the marks of where the mistakes are. Because I mark them with my either a clicker, my thumb snap, or some sort of software annotation. And then when I cut out my problem, problems. And let’s say that that was another mistake right there. I cut it out. Now I’ve you know, let’s say I want to take out that blank space there a highlight the blank space, and I cut it out or I can delete it, clear it whatever I want to. And now I say that, again as a 128. And I call it

as something like Final x or final edit whatever I want to name it. So now I’ve got both things. Now one of the processes that I do with my audio is I do a process called normalize. And what normalize most all programs will do this, it enables you to get it as loud as possible. See if I don’t know if you could tell it, but the undo it here, you see your watch those blobs of blue, get bigger. And normalizing just gives you a little bit more volume. There’s other processes, but that’s the main thing that you want to be able to do is do you know edit out what’s bad, what’s left is good. Basically, your markers let you know where the bad things are, you might want to preview and then by playing them, you can hit play and make sure it’s right thing. And then you can either cut it. If you made a mistake, you can undo it and get it back. That’s called non destructive editing, like I said, so let me let me get out of this. I’m back here. Again, like I said, there was my silly little clicker. That’s what we used to use back in the 90s when digital audio was first was first, you know invented and they wasn’t software to be able to market. And then we’ll go back over here. Let me share some more of my slides. Because I got a little bit more here. So just to review, this is what we went over. record sound pretty easy. Mark the mistakes, a thumb snap, make go ahead and bring my camera up here to where you can see me when I do this thumb snap, I just get my fingers up here. I can mark a mistake like that. In other words, hello, I made a mistake. And you do what’s called a pickup normalize and then save it as a 44.1 16 bit 128 audio file.

Now

I’m going to go over here to my slides again, and we got a few more things we want to talk about. When it comes to sweetening, this is a little bit more of an advanced strategy and this requires something like I multitrack program Audio studio is a limited multitrack program. Now in Audacity, and in GarageBand, those are multitrack programs. But I was a Sony fan. And so I learned acid Pro. And now you can get acid music maker for about 49 bucks, and it’s perfect if you’re PC based. But what the only difference between sweetening means that you’re taking mp3 or WAV files or AI files that you’ve recorded, and you’re assembling them into a final mix of layers. And you can adjust the volume levels, you can bring in sound effects, you can bring in commercials and jingles. You know, it’s one of the things that I’ve been doing with my podcast is, you know, I edit those in. But you know, one of the things that I love is recording interviews. And I use join stream yard to record Jay interviews. Because when somebody is hooked up to stream yard cloud system, the very system I’m using right now, I can get a high quality mp3 between two people. And then I can bring it into either asset pro or sound audio studio and edit it. And then of course, a lot of internet marketers have Camtasia you should own Camtasia if you’re an internet marketer, my gosh, there’s so many things that you can do with Camtasia. And Camtasia is an amazing multitrack sweetening mixing program. It has just like it has multiple video tracks, you can have multiple audio tracks and adjust the levels, edit out and assemble a program. So this is a good place to talk about, you know the use of jingles. But why should you own a good microphone? Why should you learn to use these softwares? Well, number one, these are the skills that I think are needed for any business. A great microphone is so affordable today. The rode podcaster the Rode anti Audio Technica when I started you know we were looking at those 1000 Studio microphones that were just out of reach for us they didn’t make those kind of microphones for computers back in the day but now they do and what can you do with a great microphone? Well, you can do a podcast a live stream like I’m doing right now. YouTube and Facebook video content product creation Camtasia recordings, audio and video commercials. Coaching I do one on one coaching with my microphone, go to meetings zoom Skype. And then of course I do one on one networking meetings to build business so owning a good microphone it’s there’s no excuse for not owning a good microphone anymore. We’re gonna go to the comments now and see if there are any questions this is a great time for you to be sure to put in your questions. All I’ve got so many good friends here. Here’s my good buddy Jeff herring so glad you’re here and my good buddy Carlin bunting all the way out there from Grand canyon.com still using his a 20 tt at 2020 USB. And folks, the world famous Chuck boozer Gee, Chuck, it’s so good that you’re hope you’re doing well. Hope you’re staying safe. Just outdated itself. Sweet. I love that. My buddy up and wonderful. north of the border in Canada, Michael, Chris, good to see you here. My pest control, buddy. Hi, Michael. Good morning. You use the Rode podcaster and Adobe Audition all great programs all It doesn’t matter. Nobody at the bank says what equipment did you use? And let’s see if there’s any questions any Carlin says still use at your recommendation most modern gets simply edited and video and Camtasia now. Yeah, sure. I mean, back when I started, there was a there was only so many things you could use. But now there’s so many great options. And folks, here is a internet marketing legend, Kurt. So good to see you here, man. Good to see you again, brother. Hey, let’s catch up soon. And there’s one of the most precious ladies in the world. That’s my daughter, Lindsay and Lindsay, what’s the platform for podcasts? WordPress, and we’re going to be working on that. You’ve got the microphone, hopefully got the computer, maybe you can make those things happen.

And

thank you, Nina. Yeah, this is all about making content and building an audience. In fact, every time I do these things, I see more people showing up live which is so much fun to have this kind of interactivity. Tom says he has no question. Well, I know Tom, a lot of this is basic stuff for you. But there’s a lot of folks out there that may still be struggling with what microphones are cool. You know what software is good, you know, what are the basics and and of course, here’s Mikey says, I’ve been using the Blue Snowball, amazing microphone. In fact, I had a Blue Snowball and I gave it to my good friend, recording legend Wayne moss as a Christmas present. And that’s why I replaced my Blue Snowball with I thought, well, I’m gonna try out this nti anti road, and I love it. It’s been great. So

thank you. That’s my my darling daughter. I’ll call you later. So we, uh, let’s see here. It’s great to know that audio video training originally CPU is still foundation. Well, you know, one of the things Carlin is the principles of editing, mixing and sweetening. You know, they haven’t changed since the invention of movies. I mean, the masters of movie soundtracks from the i was i was watching a movie on Netflix just recently. And when I watch this movie about comedies, forget the name, it’s not Matt Martin. Anyway, it’s the guy who wrote Citizen Kane, for George, for Oh, my goodness, I’m having a senior moment here. Orson Welles or some wells had this particular writer and they were just talking about all the soundtrack and all the sound mixing stuff that they did. Back in the 30s. Back, you know, back, you gotta remember, movies were silent until about 1923 24. Somewhere in there. The first sound movie was the jazz singer with Al Jolson. And then of course, Steamboat Willie was a Walt Disney audio, movie. And so mixing of sound and Orson Welles. Thank you, Kurt. Golly, I can’t believe how the older I get, I think my hard drive is just running out of space here. But any rate, um, or some whales? So we’re getting some questions here. Um, Michael says, Do you recommend for podcast hosting, I use anchor FM. Ah, I like putting my audio up in my WordPress website. And I put my media files on Amazon s3 Cloud. That’s my preference. A lot of people use Lipson, a lot of people use pod bean, a lot of people use. What’s the other one? pod bean? There’s blueberry hosting Lipson. There’s a lot of there’s a lot of good ones out there. But as long you know, the only reason I don’t want to put it on anchor FM is I’m not sure if it allows you to use a WordPress blog with it. And that’s what I’m a big proponent of so anchor anchor may be great, I just have my way of doing it. And I’m, it works for me. And at the end of the day, build an audience. And and of course, whatever system you go with, you know, it’s hard to move it and what I like about by putting it on Amazon s3 and using WordPress, if I had to move it to a different system, I wouldn’t lose all my content. And I don’t know what the terms of service are with with anchor so I’m not not so sure about if there’s any issues with privacy, Maggie says concern about privacy issues. I don’t know of any that. All I know is that when I keep a secure WordPress website, and I put my files securely up on Amazon s3, everything works the way I know it’s do it. So it’s kind of like, you know, what’s the best microphone? What’s the best camera? What’s the best pod? podcast? hosting service. If it works, and it’s affordable. That’s all it matters. Okay, and somebody says they’re using captivate, which, quite honestly, I’ll investigate it. I don’t know. Mikey says anchor is great. They make it easy to Well, that’s good to know. So folks, you know what, pick whatever is best for you. So let’s see if we got any other questions here. Um, you know, we are brought to you today by Mike Stewart everything club, but we got a deal going on at audio claws. And thank you for that great recommendation. Is there any other questions that have anybody has here because we’re getting close up to the half hour point. It’s so great to see so many of my old friends. Kurt, give me a call sometime. I’d love to catch up to what you’re doing these days. Good to see you Maggie, Michael. Um, I’ve got to remember that this does become my podcast, so I got to make sure it’s not too visual. I tried to describe everything in an auditory format. Um, hope everybody’s staying safe. I hope Everybody is getting used to going virtual. And of course, I just wanted to have a little bit of an update that, you know, one of the things about what doesn’t get old, what doesn’t get outdated, is good content never gets outdated, good microphones last a lifetime.

And then more importantly, software changes, software gets better computers get faster. You know, one of the things about software’s and technology, they’re constantly getting faster, better. And of course, whatever was good six months ago is now outdated. But the good news is, is content marketing is I don’t think we’ll ever get old. Because content marketing started with Gutenberg and the printing press. And so content marketing will always be there. Good sounding audio is always going to have a place. In fact, when I listen to old movies that were made, you know, go back and listen to the Wizard of Oz, that movie was made in 1939. You can hear the dialogue, you can hear the sound effects, you can the music and the vocals, everything is you know, it’s amazing. We’ve been getting good professional quality audio, because of good microphones and good audio processing and recording techniques. Since you know, almost 300 years. So, you know, good audio starts with a good microphone, and good strategies and good techniques. And that’s what I wanted to cover today. Um, more importantly, um, let’s see, I’ve got one question here says, I need a good lapel mic for my phone and some blogging, any recommendations? You know, I have seen several Bluetooth, cell phone lapel mics, and I haven’t tested them. There’s a couple out there, they’re different prices. And maybe I’ll do a show on lapel mics. Because I’m, I don’t do a lot of out in the field recording. Because Because of COVID. I don’t go out in the field that much. So, but that that would be a good idea for a show. So bill says thank you, I love all these great comments. It’s very supportive the to get the support from you guys. And you know, submit your questions to me by email, there’s at Mike store dot live, there is a question submission, suggestions for things that you want me to cover in the future. And you know, anything like that. So if that’s a, it looks like nobody has any burning questions. So I appreciate you to another one of our sponsors, I want to remind you, we’re brought to you by domains, you control.com and dot live secrets at domains you control. I highly recommend that if you’re going to do a podcast that you get a dot live URL. And of course, if you want to call me and reach out to me, I publicly put out my phone number 770-826-3662 love to talk to you. And I’m going to end with what Maggie says. Merry Christmas to you and to all of yours. And thanks for watching this episode of Mike Stewart dot live

Audio Video Marketing Thanksgiving – Gratitude & a Bewildering 2020

Michael Stewart
Good morning, good morning, wherever you are in the world, it’s Mike Stewart dot live, live TV show. And this today I don’t have a guest. This is kind of my Thanksgiving show here in the United States. This week we celebrate Thanksgiving. And I thought I would reflect on some things about 2020 and things that I have gratitude for. And if some folks show up, I’ll be glad to take your questions at the end. But this will be probably a very little short show up. But amazingly, you know, I didn’t even do a promotion for this show. And we got people showing up. So thanks so much for you folks showing up. But be sure to go into the comments area and let me know that you’re here. But today, you know, I’m, I’m grateful for the internet. I’m grateful for understanding how microphones and cameras work. So this is gratitude about audio and video online. And I put a little presentation together to talk about what I call my gratitude and bewilderment of this year. So if you let me indulge, you own just a little bit of a trip down memory lane, and maybe there’s some sub lessons we can all learn from that. But I see people showing up. Hey, David, David Kavanagh’s here. Thanks, David. Glad you’re here. And so let me let me share this little story and then we’ll have a little discussion. But here in the US, it is the week of Thanksgiving. I’m kind of excited because I’m going to be going to Georgia to see my grandkids and see my kids. So I want to share with you my thoughts on 2020 and my gratitude. So number one, um, I’m thinking about 2020 and I call it the year of gratitude and the year of the wilderness number one, I came into 2020 with a lot of excitement. There’s an oldies band here in the States called the Box Tops. They had four number one records called the letter cry like a baby, soul deep, you can google them the Box Tops they were originally called the de veils, and that fell out in the top right hand corner is Gary Talley. And Gary has been a good friend of mine for years and Bill Cunningham is Darien bill are the founding members of 1967 of the Box Tops. And the stories they have just make me happy. I’m so grateful for the stories that I get to hear. Bill’s brother was BB Cunningham had a hit record called let it all hang out in the 60s, you got to check that out. It was the first rap record. And Bill’s dad, BB Sr. Worked for Sam Phillips at when BB worked

At Sam Phillips Sun Records, Elvis, and Johnny Cash. And I mean just the stories are amazing that Bill can share from his childhood. And so being a member of the Box tops was exciting in 2020. And I think I’m so tickled to hear my good friend Wayne Moss, who will be a guest on this show once we get his internet working flawlessly so he can stream Thank you Wayne for for being here.

And my good friend Jeff Herring is here. So anyway, the story is I came into 2020 with a lot of anticipation. My gosh, I’ve come to Nashville, and a dream I get to tour with these guys there. There’s me, I’m the keyboard player for the old Box Tops. And, you know, we get to do a lot of really cool things. That was February of this year. Then we get to march. And you talk about something that that scary, but I’m very grateful for is that the tornado that came through Nashville was within five miles of my house. And unfortunately, in Nashville, it did a lot of damage, but I’m grateful that more people weren’t hurt. But it was you know, it’s like that’s how we came into March I mean, you know, they used to talk about March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb or vice versa. Well, this year it came in like a like a herd of lions through about five miles from my house.

And then

Michael Stewart
a couple of weeks later on, you know or not even a week later, a few days later, the pandemic started you You’re in Tennessee, and it started all over the world. And my goodness, it was a scary, scary time for us all. It’s still a scary time. But, you know, I had just joined the Boxtops. And we were, we were out in Texas. And we had concerts booked in Texas in that week, you know, right after the tornado in Nashville, and they canceled our concerts, and we had to fly home early.

And I just remember, it was just, you know, what’s going on with the world, it was very much akin to 911. I remember 911 was just one of those weird days is like, what’s happening to the world? And, and, you know, ironically, you know, how many years ago was it? It was 1963 on November 22, I was a child, but I remember the, the emotion of the day, Kennedy was killed. I mean, these were all negative things that just makes the world scared. And it’s hard to be grateful and thankful when you’re scared and bewildered. But, you know, one of the things that I’m have a lot of gratitude, and I hope, I wish this for all of you, is being comfortable with online technologies. I’m thankful that when the pandemic hit, that I wasn’t struggling to figure out how online worked.

You know, one of the things I knew how microphones, I knew have webcams, I knew how cameras I editing software. I mean, there’s so many things in the online video world that everyone should at least aspire to have a mastery of. So I was thankful that I didn’t have a learning curve. One of the things that that became evident to me was that the world discovered zoom back in March. And this is a networking group that I’m very active with, it’s called nti. Online. It’s, you know, a group, I, one of the biggest things that helped me in my business was networking. Like when I used to speak at events, you know, like David, Kevin or not, David and I are friends from In fact, here’s here’s David’s a Facebook and his picture. David is my mate all across the world. David’s in Thailand right now, can’t believe what time what time, David, you have to tell us what time it is in Thailand right now. But networking at live events that used to get on an airplane and fly all over the world to talk about audio and video. Now, you can do it with these streaming technologies. And it’s interesting how of all the great streaming technologies out there Go To Webinar, WebEx, Microsoft online, zoom is the one the world embraced. And people struggled with it. And it’s really been I’m grateful that I had knowledge to help a lot of people overcome their frustrations and, and fears of zoom and, and realize that, you know, we can still connect safely with the technology, audio and video and streaming on the internet. That’s, that’s, in fact, if we go to the next thing that I’m grateful for, is because of this pandemic. I started researching all of the streaming technologies. And my good friend Daniel Hall, shared with me join stream yard.com. And I said, Oh my gosh, this is this is the solution. This is the ability to do video strategies like lower third text, and the ability to engage with people that are watching you. You can pull up lower third comments from from people watching you live. You can throw up your phone number, your web addresses, I mean, it’s just lower third text is a strategy I can I can switch and show my me talking on the camera. You don’t need to see me right now. But I mean, you can see there this is what stream yard does stream yard makes this amazingly easy for the world. And it’s one of the things that I struggled with trying to teach years ago, because years ago, I bought the domain name dot live secrets. And this was the thing that I learned and I’m grateful for back in May

Michael Stewart
is there’s my buddies in a band, I was in a band in 1982. We were one hit wonder, have we had a record called Pac Man fever. And I have been here trying to figure out how to help musicians and the music world understand that they can monetize music in Amazon with other than just streaming audio streams of music don’t pay a lot of money. And there’s there’s technical reasons. And there’s economic reasons why that is, and it frustrates my friends and colleagues and brothers and sisters in music. But you can sell music through Amazon for a lot more money. And we proved it back in May, with using straight join stream yard. And we debuted a video and we sold our Kindle music book. And we proved that 10% of our fans would buy a $5 Kindle book. So we were able to prove and that all came about because we were locked down, we were in quarantine, we had to use audio and video on the internet to monetize. So anyway, okay, but I’m so I’m grateful you know, even though this horrible pandemic is here, and I pray for it, to come back to where we can all gather in groups, and we can have live events. But you know, I don’t think it’ll ever be insane because I think the world has learned that streaming audio and video has a place. And sometimes you don’t have to, you know, burn fossil fuels and get on airplanes and drive across town and, and spend, you know, spend money on hotels, you can accomplish a lot, just sitting right in front of your webcam and your computer and your internet connection. So that’s, that’s what I learned here. So this was May of this year, and I’m grateful that Daniel Hall and Jerry Buckner and you know, go to Buckner Garcia.com. And check this out. This was was really groundbreaking for us we prove something. And then three days later, we had the horror of the George Floyd incident. And it saddens me that that that, you know, that became the news. Nobody cared about Pac Man after that happened. And I totally understand. I’m not trying to be political here at all guys. I’m just saying it’s a history what happened. And it broke my heart that that this was, you know, we had just come out of getting, you know, a little bit settled on, okay, we’re in this lockdown, what can we do differently? And then then that horror, you know, started happening all over the country. And, and I just pray, you know, one of the things I want to pray for and be thankful for is if we can come together and, and live in peace, you know, anyway, that’s what John Lennon wanted. He was a Beatle and he said, you know, give peace a chance. So I get it. But because of my experience with doing the Pac Man fever, live stream, my colleagues and in fact, David Cavanagh, was one of the fellows there. Tom Wah Jason Buckner, and the group at click seminars. They were originally called the world in it summit and the world at summit was based out of Australia. And I mean, I flew to Australia five times to speak at those seminars, because that’s how I made money. I built business and was grateful for it. I remember one time I was in Australia, and it was July. And I said, Now why am I in the dead of winter in Australia? Oh, so I can live at the lake in America. That’s why I’m here. I’m here to help people make enough prosperity so that I can live my dream. And so anyway, Tom and Jason, and I’m having a brain brain. When you call it a brain fart, that’s what you call it. The other lady there I’ll remember her name later. Anyway, they said they were going to do click seminars, calm and sort of the world at summit. I said, No, guys, you stream yard, we can do a live worldwide event. And we can do it completely, with very little calls with webcams and presentations, you know, so it was the inspiration to help these guys. And I was grateful that I was asked to be the host of both of these events worldwide, made them a whole lot of new friends this way, connected with a whole lot of people. And it was it was a great experience.

Michael Stewart
So that was the inspiration that I’m grateful for that made me say I bought the Domain Dot live secrets.com two years ago, and I tried to use a piece of software called OBS if you’ve seen the OBS Studio it’s it’s a pretty amazing free piece of software. And it allows you to live stream. But even as experienced as I was, it was very clunky. It was very it was open source software. I just felt like that my community would struggle with this software. So I abandoned dot live secrets because I just didn’t feel Like it was here. But when I found stream yard and started using streaming, the very thing I’m using right now to live stream to you. That’s when I was able to. And so I’m grateful that the lockdown and the quarantine made me say, Okay, I’m concet here and do nothing, or I can sit here and and create things that can make a difference in people’s lives. So that’s what I did. I finished this. And it works I ever haven’t really even finished all I’m going to do with it. Of course, I always tell you that this show is brought to you by domains, you control.com where you buy hosting and websites and not live secrets. Then the next thing that I want to share with you that was I’m grateful for my good friend, Hal Coleman, the bug guy said, For years, Mike, we need to do an online Pest Control TV show. And we tried to do it on zoom. And we tried to do it a couple other ways. And I just really wasn’t pleased with the way it went. Zoom is a meeting technology. Yeah, you can get zoom webinar, and I believe it’s good. But stream yard enabled me to launch this. And oh, my goodness has this been an amazing thing for us since March. unbeknownst to us, but we’re very grateful for pest control is an essential business in this pandemic. And we got busy and our clients got busy. And instead of back in March, when I thought things were going to be in a decline. We’ve had a booming year, you know, online technologies, Netflix, apple, Amazon, eBay, LinkedIn, all of these online technologies that embrace audio and video have been booming this year. So that should be assigned to you. That should be a lesson. And that happened because of the negative that happened back in March. And then of course, me, it made me realize I need to give back to my community. I need to be a content marketer. Like Jeff herring says, You need to build lots and lots of content you need to be like Gary Vaynerchuk says, and I was procrastinating I didn’t you know, a lot of people procrastinate because they feel like it’s too hard. Or they feel like there is there’s too many. There’s too many roadblocks. There’s too many things that make it difficult. I didn’t have any excuse. Other than I was procrastinating, you know, I need to do I need to, you know, I know how to podcast and I need to I’m telling people they need to podcast. And here I am being hypocritical not doing it myself. So I said, after we launched Pest Control marketing dot live, I said I am I own the domain name, Mike Stewart dot live. And I said I’m not going to build a course and not do it myself. So I made a commitment to go live twice a month, whether anybody watches or not to be a content marketer. And the benefits have been overwhelming. Oh, more than I expected. And I’ll never stop doing it. My motivation, my why to do this. I hope I give something that’s an inspiration to somebody else. I hope I help others. And then I hope as a percentage of people do business with me to you know, because Zig Ziglar says if I give you what you need, get you what you need, I get what I need. And what I want to do is just be able to be on the planet longer and and help people and do things that I have passionate about doing. So Mike Stewart dot live, I’m grateful for it wouldn’t happen this year had had the chain of events not been as they were. I’m very grateful for my children. My daughter wanted to get married

Michael Stewart
in September, and she put out an invitation to her friends and because of this COVID pandemic, even her friends were scared to come to a wedding and we found a place in Florida that does, um, through the internet. They do what they call eloping packages. And I was able to buy my daughter and my new son in long Cameron they’re a really a memorable wedding at a bed and breakfast in Florida. They were able to ride in a Rolls Royce to a socially distant four star restaurant have a meal. They were able to livestream the wedding. We were able to watch it. In fact, I posted the wedding on my Facebook. So we had a socially distant COVID safe wedding for my daughter and now I am grateful for my new son in law and that my daughter seems to be the happiest she’s been in our life.

Now, two years ago, maybe maybe it’s been three years. We did have a wedding for my son and this is a company Using thing that’s my wife, Susan and I. That’s Eric and his wife, Lindsay. So I have a daughter named Lindsay. And I have a daughter in law named Lindsay. And now that Lindsay is Lindsay Lindsay rentals. Now my daughter in law is Lindsey Stewart. And that’s the children’s mother Sherry. And that was when we were able to attend their wedding two years ago, and then there’s my son, my stepson, but I consider him my son, Michael and Jolene, my daughter in law, my beautiful daughter in law, and I am so grateful for this family. Because I believe I’d never thought that I would see the thing that’s gonna probably make me cry here.

That’s what Michael and Jolene and Eric and Lindsey are brought me. There’s my precious Harper, Grace, Martinique, and Harland. And I’m so grateful that we will be leaving this week to go spend time with these amazing little children. So I’ll get a little choked up here.

But that’s what I’m grateful for that, that I’m still here. And that, that I live to see this. And if I don’t get another day, I have nothing to complain about. But anyway, talking about gratitude, if it wasn’t for all the technologies today out, you know, like FaceTime streaming video, I wouldn’t get to see these kids grow up, because you know, it’s hard for us to be with them. But we are going to be with him this weekend. And I’m grateful for my life in Nashville. That’s my, that’s my bride, Susan. We’ve been together. Over 30 years, we’ve been married almost 25. And you know, she, she would love to be around the grandchildren more, but she knows for me to be happy.

I gotta be around Music City. So I’m grateful for my life in Nashville. Now, if it wasn’t for online marketing, if it wasn’t for online video and audio, there’s no way I could have moved to Nashville, you know, I wouldn’t have had a way of making a living. But because of you folks, I’m grateful for all of you. You’ve enabled me to have my dream. And there you can see, look at the smile on my face with that Hofner, Beatle bass. I love being here in Nashville, and I love being around music. And I can’t wait till I get this guy Wayne Moss to be a guest on my show. I can’t wait for that to happen. And anyway, so the last thing I want to tell you I’m grateful for and then we can maybe take a few questions, and that’ll be the show. These are two people. That I hope you will maybe take a minute and visit just for Mike. This is a my mom and dad’s Memorial website that his name was Hanes Stewart and Martha, Haynes Stewart.com. And you can hear my daddy singing, and you can see the pictures of when he was in the railroad. And you can’t I can’t tell you he’s been gone. Because he almost 20 years and my mom has been gone 12 years. But I can because of audio and video on the internet, I can share my mom and dad with you folks. It’s not about making money. It’s about this man. And this woman were two of the most amazing people I ever knew.

Michael Stewart
I want to be grateful for so much. And I hope I am and I hope I can help a lot of people in the world with audio and video online. So with that being said, we got a few people here live. I didn’t even announce that I was going on live here. But I mean, this means yes, Wayne, I’m thankful for you. And we’re going to get get you more and more online because this man has so many stories The world needs to hear. And thank you, Vicki, you’re so sweet to show up and say these things. And thank you, Michael. Thank you, all of you. So if we don’t have any other questions, any comments? If you celebrate Thanksgiving, then I hope you have a great Thanksgiving this week. If you don’t know that us in the US that on Thursday, we we try to pause for a moment and be thankful for the great things in our life. And I just want to share the ones that this year in spite of the craziness of this year, I hope that there’s some good things that have come Your way and and I hope and pray that 2021 and beyond will only be better and I believe it can be better with the power of audio and video and audio video marketing. So and thank you my dear, thank you for being there for me. I love you all

Hello and welcome welcome welcome to another episode of Mike Stewart dot live, the live stream podcast show where we talk everything audio and video and we just have a good time letting you guys ask questions to some of my friends and experts, and more importantly, talking about things what’s new and audio and video. You know, a lot of news has happened recently that you know, I want you guys to be aware of one of the things I’m most excited about. For those of you watching. This is an Alexa and I can say Alexa, play the mike Stewart dot Live podcast and normal normally she will

Alexa:
listen. Getting Mike Stewart live from amazon music. See, this is one thing Mike Stewart dot live pilot show. Guess Jeff herring content marketing studio maker. So anyway,

Michael Stewart
Alexa Be quiet. In fact, I’ll probably unplug you. So you so you won’t come on again. But anyway, voice command is going to be the future of search, you know, are people able to talk to you know, one of the things that came out this week was that GM is seeing a massive surge for Alexa in the dashboards of cars. So, voice controlled search, podcasting, live streaming, all of these things are very, very important. So anyway, just want to kind of give you a little update what’s going on in the audio video world podcast world live streaming world. But I am excited to have a friend of mine that I have known my gosh, I guess it’s been at least 1617 years, I met this lady. First as a customer, I actually produced a project for her. Back in the day I did the audio and recording and programming for that product. And then I spoke at a seminar for my friend Armand Morin that she attended, and that’s where we met was back in San Francisco. And that’s probably 2003 or four, I can’t even remember it’s been so long. But anyway, this is this is who we’re having today. There she is. Alicia Liddell, she is the coach to entrepreneurs that dominate their niche and build their online Empire. This lady has a define the word of candu willing to learn and then you know, exploding what she’s doing. So, enough about me, I want to bring the lovely, wonderful, talented Miss Alicia Liddell. Hey, Alicia.

Alicia Lyttle
Hi, Mike. Hi, everybody. I’m so excited to be here. Thank you so much for inviting me. Whoo.

Michael Stewart
Well, you know, I have known about live streaming and podcasting, which is an audio video strategy for years. And I just finally said, you know, this is especially when you know, you and I were involved with click seminars recently. And it made me realize, you know, I know how to do this, but I am procrastinating. And, and as we all know, procrastination will just, you know, it kills things. I actually have it around here, someone had around to it. I said, I, I want to do a podcast, I teach podcasting. And I’m not doing one on teaching, live streaming and are not doing so I made a commitment to do it. And one of the best ways to get killer content is not always be the person talking. And and that’s why I love reaching out to folks like you. So my first question for you is, how has audio and video work for you over the years with your online business? Because I remember back in the day, when you guys weren’t shooting video weren’t editing video. what all do you do in your business? Because I mean, we can sit here and say you’ve got a good quality microphone, you’ve got a windscreen, you’re doing all the things that you need to do to get good audio video, but tell me a little bit about your past.

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, sure. So all right. I’m glad you asked that question. Tell me a little bit about your past because I want everyone on here to know that Mike, you’re listening to Mike Stewart had really been the one to introduce me and our company to the importance of quality audio and video right now I’m traveling. I’m in an Airbnb and I have my Logitech webcam with me, I have my microphone with me. I didn’t bring enough clothes for the trip. But I brought my audio and video equipment just in case there would be an opportunity to do a live like I’m doing today. So Mike was telling you about how back in the day he produced, you know, our first it was a CD product and not even knowing how to get the audio and video or a DVD or I don’t know DVD or CD we’re talking way back in the day. Mike put it all together and taught me so much over the past few years. And he’s like the coordinator at these live events and stuff that I’m on. So if you said go back to my past and talk about audio and video for a lot of us internet marketers that that pass comes with Mike Stewart. I still have this at my mom’s house. I actually had sent this to her and it’s one of those flip cams So back in the day This will age you if you know What a flip cam is you have been in internet marketing for a really long time, we had these cameras that flipped open and you would plug it into your computer flip cams. And Mike was the one who actually showed me and taught me about the flip cam and how to use it in business. So when you say Go back, go back in time, it’s going back in time and giving credit to Mike Stewart for being the one to push audio and video. Now, if I look ahead, so let’s fast forward to now, I really do understand the importance of audio and video, because of the times that we’re in right now, Mike, I have done so many live summits, I’m doing maybe four or five summits a week, when before when I was speaking on stage, it would be one a week because you have to travel to get there, you have to get on a plane to go to your destination. And then I’m tired, you spend a lot of money getting there and a lot of effort. And now speaking virtually, I’m speaking to more people from more places in the world than I ever have before. So where this has progressed, you know, speaking on stage to speaking now virtually, it’s so important to have, you know, your audio and video, right and to really be able to take advantage of the fact that people are on their computers, they’re willing to watch live streams. And this is really where the attention is that right now. So Mike, I just want to say thank you so much for the push the expertise. And we’ve come a long way from the the CDs and the flip cams, haven’t we?

Michael Stewart
Well, you know, the thing is back in that day, which has been a long time for me, um, you know, I was, I was always an audio engineer, first, I’m a musician and an audio engineer. And I was fortunate enough to meet people who were brilliant at marketing, but for some reason, you were you were brilliant, and all these other skills, but these these simple little technical skills, like what equipment to use, what microphones to use, and just raising the bar a little bit. Um, and that’s what I saw the the successful folks such as yourself, you were willing to do things you hadn’t done before and get comfortable with it, that’s where a lot of people fail, is, you know, you have always been a great presenter. And now you’re, you do an amazing job. And that’s one of the reasons that you’re so successful at it is that you look at the camera, you you have a good microphone, you took the simple little steps. And those simple little steps make the difference between being more successful or giving up. And and so that’s what I always like. So when you go back to the the days, like the very first time and the reason I brought up that product that create I, I’ll mention the name it was called Fibonacci secrets, I’ll never forget it. It was basically making a multi media CD ROM. Now me as a beginner, I had no idea what you guys were doing. But all I know is I remember being told, you know, we got to get this done, because we got a bunch of affiliates on board. And I went on board to do what? And I laugh at that. But see, that was my lack of knowledge. So in other words, we were a great company, I was one of the only audio engineers that really bridged over and made relationships that have lasted the way but the thing is, is that you guys, here’s the thing that once you talk about is that you started learning to use the tools. I mean, how many audio video related products have you built in the last 15 years?

Alicia Lyttle
Oh, Lord have mercy. What a question I don’t even know. But to think about how many products I mean, last year alone, in courses that just me and my sister created with the upsells and down cells, you know, because we will create one course. And that course we always create course in video format, whether I’m talking at the screen and showing my screen at the same time or just recording my screen, everything is always created in video format. So I think last year, it was like 27 different courses, and some of them small courses, some of them bigger courses. But the thing that we found is that when we create a course our previous clients buy that new course. So and they’re hungry for knowledge, so we have to keep creating courses to fill that hunger. And we get messages in our inbox just saying what’s the next course. And in this morning’s team meeting, we’re talking about doing a special giving our courses at 50% off or a special group of our people. And we’re talking about the last time we did this one week promo which was like everything 50% off, a lady bought seven of our courses. And when my sister called her she was like I would have bought them all but I have the other night already. So you know people it as long as you present in a way that is engaging to people and your courses there. Going to get something actionable out of it and feel smarter after they’ve taken it. The you know, your question of how many have I created? I honestly I don’t know. But well over maybe 150 200? I’m not sure. And then there’s other lessons and stuff as well, Mike. So you pull so much more out of, you know, this thing right here.

Michael Stewart
When I met you, you weren’t creating courses that I remember. Right. And now you only remember how many you’ve created, which is, which is just shows me what you know, the lesson here for everybody is that you embraced it. And you do it and you do it and you do it and you do it, you do it. And everything you do doesn’t you know, for me, I’ve done things I don’t talk about the things that nobody cared about, because who wants to hear about the courses he created that nobody cared about? I’ll tell you what, we did auction video secrets years ago, nobody cared how to shoot video for eBay and nobody there. But anyway, that’s another story for another day. But But the reason I mentioned about all of that, is that see you got equipment. Now, you’re not outsourcing the the recording and capturing of this content are you doing you’re doing that yourself?

Alicia Lyttle
I’m doing everything myself? Yes.

Michael Stewart
Are you editing yourself or outsourcing that,

Alicia Lyttle
um, I do have an editor in the Philippines that I use, but for the most part, it’s, you know, recording and and using what I have done, and I’m not doing editing at all really.

Michael Stewart
Okay, now, folks, I want you to hear this. This is a successful internet marketer whose time is very, very valuable. And they know how to run the tools to capture the content that makes them money. This is this is what I see people in my world Alicia is they’ll buy tools and never use them.

Alicia Lyttle
Right. And that’s a shame, especially when you have the tools that will grow, multiply and expand your business, you have to use them.

Michael Stewart
And there was a day that the flip cam, you can look it up. I remember when the flip cam came out. It was a it was basically about the size of a cell phone. All it would do is shoot video. And it had a little flip thing on the side that would plug it into the USB port because the biggest problem people had they couldn’t get the video off the camera. I mean I used I started teaching this when you shot with a camcorder right and and the hardest thing to do is get the video off the camcorder onto a computer. It is possible but people struggle with it the flip camera all it did was made a good video that people could get off the camera people used to ask me all the time what camera should I get in? My answer was one you can run.

Alicia Lyttle
Right?

Michael Stewart
And what I love is, you know you bought equipment, it became obsolete and then you upgraded to the next thing. What are the tools that you’re using for audio and video production in your business today? software’s Are you PC or Mac just just kind of getting a rundown of your list.

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, so I’m Mac my sister’s PC iMac. I’m using a Logitech Bria briault webcam. Right now it’s about 200 bucks. But like my sister uses the 50 a $50 one that she just found off of Amazon. So the Logitech Brio was a 4k, although it just depends on what software you’re using if it even pulls in 4k, but I just wanted to get that one. Um, and then for a microphone, I don’t even know this is this is not an expensive one. This is a $40 one, like wow. namebrand right there. But this one I use because it packs into my purse. And I’m traveling right now. Like this at home I have a I don’t I don’t even know but it’s like a Blue Yeti mic. It’s similar to Yeti. Yeah. And I use that one at home but that stays there permanently. And you know, right now I’m on my Mac and again, I’m traveling so I just pack it up and take it with me. So I try not to overthink it at home. I do have a Canon no a Sony A seven or something like that. I’m not even sure. Sony someone.

Michael Stewart
I mean, there’s so many high end cameras, you know, that look great. I mean, you could shoot movies with them. But the truth is, you know, you’re saying Alicia, you and laurette are making money with a $50 camera.

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, but even better than that. So I have a show on Jamaica public broadcasting TV called the digital champ printer, and I shoot most of it with my iPhone. So I bought it with my iPhone, and I shoot it and then I airdrop it to my computer I don’t even have to you know we don’t even have to plug in the phone anymore. I just airdrop it to my computer. My best performing TV commercial that I’ve that I’ve launched was filmed on my iPhone. So all my Facebook ads are filmed on my iPhone. I don’t even I don’t even take the time to do all of this when it comes to No filming on, like filming a commercial or a Facebook ad, I just go straight to the iPhone. That’s it. I don’t even have the latest version. Look, you know, not even the latest version.

Michael Stewart
I don’t either. I’ve been. I’ve been threatening to get it and it’s like I go, I don’t want to go through it. It’s working. But But yeah, I think the lesson here today is here, you’ve got a successful entrepreneur, Alicia, she’s using a webcam, a $50 microphone, a Mac or PC? Doesn’t matter. Nobody if the bank says how did you make that money with a Mac or a PC they don’t. Okay. And, and your cell phone, you have all the production tools to do some high end product creation, and high end content marketing. What we’re doing today is content marketing. I’m creating a library of content to introduce my friends to my world and let people know, you know what we’re doing. And in fact, I want to put up for the benefit of those on the podcast that can’t see this. If you can spell Alicia, la al ici, and little but with a Y Li TT le, you can find out everything you need to go visit this lady online. You need to see what else she’s doing. She’s actually got her and her sister have boss lifestyle inc.com that’s a great website, where they have a lot of the audio video productions that they’ve done. Oh, you know, over the last few years, and they’re continuing to do so you know, we’re gonna have a little break. I’d like to say we’re gonna have a little word from our sponsor, and I want to talk about the video commercials that you’re running on social media, Facebook, YouTube, and just tell me Give me a little bit of stories and background what you do that we got a lot of people watching and listening. We’re getting comments. This is my good buddy Gerry Oginski. Here’s another buddy of mine, Gary Lee. They’re all they’re all laughing about the flip cam, there’s bill after he bought a flip cam. And and in fact, I got to put it in a little plug. You know, I’m here in Nashville, Elisa these days. And next week, you guys have got to come back. And here this is going to be a music audio engineer. extravaganza show. This is my buddy Wayne moss. You just need to Google this guy. Now this is a dear friend. But he you have heard him play guitar for the last 60 years. I’m telling you there. I guarantee you. It will blow you away. I’m just gonna do a teaser Wayne’s, my guest in two weeks. It’s one on going to be thanks. Thankful by Thanksgiving show. It’s going to be a music show. It’s going to be a fun show. But a Wayne, thanks for watching. But Wayne is great. So we’ve got a lot of this is your chance, put your questions in the comment box. And we’ll get to those questions. But you know, one of the things that you just said there that really triggered something about audio and video, you said that you were producing TV commercials for Facebook? And I don’t know. Have you been doing them for YouTube as well or just Facebook? Tell me the stories. Businesses? You said you shot them with your iPhone? Sure. Performance Just tell me all about

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, so I’ve done plenty. My best performing TV commercial video was for my virtual assistant class. So I teach people how to be a virtual assistant. The class was only $200. And then there was an upsell that was $500. But I wanted to do something different. So I ran a commercial on TV. And I literally I have in my backpack I have two tripods with me like I carry you know my equipment with me just in case I get the inspiration to do a video. So I you know, put my phone this way to use this camera, which I believe Tell me if I’m right Mike is better than the camera on this side. But is that right?

Michael Stewart
Well, the newer phones they’re equal in the old a the older phones. I think prior to the iPhone six, and I may be corrected. There was a point where the front camera was worse than was not as good as the back camera. Nowadays, both cameras are just my

Alicia Lyttle
bed. Yeah. So anyway, I put my phone on a selfie stick and I was walking I like in my videos, I like to have motion. So when I’m doing a TV commercial, or a YouTube commercial or a Facebook commercial, I try as much as possible to have some motion to keep people’s attention. So I’m usually walking, walking somewhere and then sitting down. So I was walking. And it was a 32nd commercial. It just said hi Emily see a little and it talks about the virtual assistant class and if you ever wanted to have your own business, making money online with your laptop from anywhere, check out my website and I gave my website and we sold 180 people in at $200 and I think the the TV commercial might have cost me $2,000 to run the commercial. But the thing that people loved about that commercial when they heard about it is that I recorded it from an iPhone. They’re like what did people thought it was no color correction I recorded it outside and I was walking and and the the thing that I did was I airdrop the video to my computer so I could send the TV station the file in highest quality which on your iPhone, you can record in 4k I recorded in 4k. And so even the TV station was impressed with it. So I like to tell people stop overthinking it. Every Facebook ad YouTube ad I do, I don’t hire someone to do my videos for me, I pick up my phone I grab my selfie stick is important to me, I found my selfie stick, and I start recording and it works. So a lot of people think oh, I can’t do a commercial for my my webpage or my product or my new course because I don’t have the right cameras. I don’t have the right settings. Step outside, get a selfie stick on your phone and just go my selfie stick doesn’t even it might cost $15 on Amazon. And it just has one of those clickers so I don’t have to press it. You know, go on the phone. I can just press it on the clicker. So it’s about you know, not overthinking things and really going for it and knowing that once you know that other people have shot their TV commercials on their iPhone. You know, you got this.

Michael Stewart
What now that was for one of your own products. Didn’t you do TV commercials on Facebook for local businesses? In Jamaica?

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, we do. So we do that we still doing them then? Yeah, we’re still doing them? Yeah. So we do do that. And we just use so in for my agency in Jamaica, the number one video recording tool is a phone. Right? Again, it’s about not overthinking it. Could we use a fancier camera? Yeah, but do you know how easy it is to pop this in your pocket, head on over to the client’s office, this is for a local business and shoot their commercial right in there, right. And I always tell them, because I have staff that does it, I always tell my staff, make sure you cap capture motion move. Don’t ever record a commercial like this. And there’s no motion, right? move around a little bit, or tell the person to move around, get some motion in it. And keep it nice and short, sweet. And to the point and you got a great, a great commercial shot with your phone.

Michael Stewart
So Alright, so let me get this straight, you’re making TV commercials with your phone. And with your production equipment yourself, you’re keeping the cost down on production? How is the effectiveness of the TV ads that you run on Facebook?

Alicia Lyttle
I mean, the TV ads that I run on Facebook, and on YouTube, because I do Facebook and YouTube get amazing. So video, as you know, is so powerful, and it’s easier for me to get my message across and video than this long form something that people aren’t going to read anyway in an image. So how effective is it? Well, the great thing I love about Facebook is when you’re running a video ad on Facebook, you know people are gonna watch it, you can target the people and then you can retarget them as well based on the amount of video that they watch. So there’s all sorts of benefits to to advertising with video on Facebook and on YouTube. For example, on YouTube, I was targeting a specific group of people. And when you’re running a YouTube ad, with a video that you create on your your Facebook, I mean on your phone. For YouTube, you can target people who watch a specific video as long as that video set up for monetization, like the targeting is crazy. So how good are these videos doing? They’re doing amazingly well. And My only regret and looking back at that process, how everything is doing is that I don’t have enough ads running, I need to get more ads up. I need to I have a black friday special coming up, you know, you better believe I’m gonna put up a video about that. So it really is getting more adds up becomes the important part of video marketing. How many more videos can I get up? How much more content can I put out there right and just keep getting that content out there. Whether it’s for your own brand affiliate marketing or for clients, you know, videos where where it all comes down to being a foundational part of your your marketing plan.

Michael Stewart
Okay, so we’ve covered that you’re loving what you’re doing with your phone, you don’t need to buy another camera. You’re loving what you’re doing with your sister and yourself and creating courses with your webcam. What software Did you get comfortable with?

Alicia Lyttle
Yeah, right. Right now you’re using stream yard, that’s what I use, I use stream yard all the time. I also use a tool called one stream. So when I have a video that I want to be live, but it’s pre recorded, I use one stream to do that. And I think I’ve put a video up that’s run on 20 different platforms at one time. So I really like using one stream. I also do use zoom for my recordings. I don’t do much on zoom, other than you know record content on zoom and put it out there. I also use Camtasia which I learned about from you many many many years ago. And I use Camtasia and then my other favorite tool is loom lol So I use zoom and I use loom and that’s mostly for screencast Capture, and it has a small video of me, but those are my favorite tools for for capturing the video content.

Michael Stewart
Okay, great, great. And you know, it’s like, for instance, I have a coaching client right now who’s own Camtasia for six years and never opened it. And and that’s the lesson I’m sitting here, you’re busy, but you know How valuable is learning Camtasia? How valuable are these polls to you?

Alicia Lyttle
Well, I like the fact that if I do need something edited, or even beyond editing, sometimes I just want to lower third on the bottom to put a website just like how you have my website right there. I want to put a website on the bottom of a video that I recorded. So I just plop it in Camtasia and I know how to add my annotations, put it on the bottom and export it or if there is something I need to edit, I can do it in there. So it was really important for me to learn Camtasia and I’m not a techie person, I went to college for environmental studies like I’m a tree hugger, I am not a techie person. So I always tell people if I can figure it out, you know, trust me, you can you can figure I am not techie, but I appreciate a good tool that’s easy to use and navigate. You know

Michael Stewart
what I can tell you Alicia, I need to have you back again in the future cuz I could talk to you for all day long. And and because you’re just such a wealth of knowledge. But I want to give people a chance. We got about two or three more minutes here before we’re gonna have to wind it up. I mean, can you believe 30 minutes has flown by Wow. It’s just it’s so much fun to have you guys. I look forward to these live streams because, you know, we have this pandemic going on. You know, Susan, I don’t go anywhere we just we get up look at the computer. He goes sleep. That’s

Alicia Lyttle
where are you? She

Michael Stewart
said you’re? You’re not in Atlanta today. Where are you?

Unknown Speaker
I’m in

Alicia Lyttle
I’m trying to remember some some North event land. I’m still in Georgia, but I’m north of Atlanta. Okay.

Michael Stewart
Well, then you’re up. North Atlanta, Gainesville area, the better. Oh, well done, man. Like,

Alicia Lyttle
text you and tell you but mountains is

Michael Stewart
a nice place. We’ve had nothing but nice. Great comments. Here’s Michael Krita. My buddy in Canada saying we’re looking good. Mr. Daniel Hall. If you don’t know Dan, you need to check him out. Daniel was a guest on a previous show. Michael asks, what platform are weak us kids using a live stream? Well, let’s join stream yard.com. Yeah, it Michael is a video guy from Canada. He says great video quality. Leisha? Well, it’s just it’s just the fact that the devices keep getting better and better. So um, alright, and this is a good question for you, Alicia, is there an ideal price point for online sales?

Alicia Lyttle
That’s a really good question. It depends on your market. And if they’re, you know, if you’re driving traffic to this product via cold traffic or warm traffic, and what your goal is. So to give you an example, I released a product that was $17 on the front end. So when you bought it, just this little course, about one little thing I know how to do. And here’s a big tip, when you learn how to do something, I don’t care what it is when you learn how to do something recorded on video to teach someone, and you can either sell it as a course or put it up on YouTube to build your brand and expertise anyway. So I recorded a course sold it for $17. And it had four upsells on it. One was 3767 97 something else. And then everybody that bought that $17 course was invited on to a webinar where I sold $1,000 product. So this is you know, a funnel, I’m starting off at a low price point and then going up. But you know, last week I was on a virtual summit, and I sold a product for $1,000. And eight people bought it out of 60, I think that we’re on. So you can also have, you know, start off with higher price points. But it depends on where the traffic comes from. See, that was warm traffic, somebody was introducing me telling their audience they know like, and trust me and transferring that trust. So the price point depends on the traffic, you know, and the, the network that you’re getting introduced to the traffic through, and then what your ultimate goal of it is, sometimes it’s lead generation. So on that $17 product, I made $95,000 on my first week, and so, but I but I know what the funnel is and what my ultimate goal is. So that makes a big difference as well.

Michael Stewart
Yeah, you know, there’s so many people that I come across over the years that they don’t have, I call it a digital back end, you’ve got an amazing digital back end meaning lots of opportunities to do introductory, smaller priced or what we use call loss leader sales, making a lot of money, but you’re building a relationship. And then you know, and of course, there’s a lot of people I talk about when you say funnel sales goes right up. their head? Well, you know, we knew from years ago of hearing speakers, I mean, you and I got an amazing education traveling the world speaking and all these seminars that people paid thousands of dollars to go to. And we got to be the information because we were the presenters,

Unknown Speaker
right?

Michael Stewart
I mean, what boy was I lucky to have this? call it my even my children, Michael, my son, had he got a better college education by going to the seminars, then. Then if he had the college experience,

Alicia Lyttle
right, yeah.

Michael Stewart
So so any rate? Well, this is the last chance, folks. We’re going to be winding it up here in a second I respect. Alicia’s time. She is very busy. And I don’t expect I told her be around 30 minutes. And we’re 33 is your last chance. Vicki says and I love this stop overthinking best advice. Yeah. And, and Gary said, I don’t know about flip phones. Well, I just wanted to end it this way, since we’re not getting any more questions, but we had a really good turnout today. Thank you, Alicia for doing it. But I wanted to show everybody this. That’s what. That’s what the flip camera looked like. And there on the side was the little thing that flipped out and made it easy to get. It wasn’t the best camera in the world. But it was easy to get the dadgum video off the camera. So Lacey got any final parting thoughts you’d like to say? But thank you so much for being here. I knew this would be a great show. I didn’t even want to prepare you on anything. I just wanted it to be what it was. Two friends get together talking about things they love. And you over delivered today. It was just awesome. I know people loved it.

Alicia Lyttle
Thank you. Before I go, I just want to say, you know, thanks again, Mike. Mike really was the guy in our industry who pushed a lot of us internet marketers, product creators course content creators and speakers to really embrace video. And when I say push, Mike pushed us, Mike was like, You guys aren’t paying attention to video, you guys aren’t paying attention audio. Like he really pushed it for all of us. And a lot of you said that you got your first flip cam through Mike, which is the same for us as well. So, you know, hats off to Mike, and congratulations on the impact that you’ve made on this industry, Mike. And then my advice to you is continue to let Mike push you. And then really again, stop overthinking it. Get out your phone and record a video. A lot of people have excuses on why they can’t do it. Right. Don’t have right equipment. Don’t look good today. hair’s not done here. Not good. I mean, we can think of all of the excuses in the book, but you can’t make excuses and money. At the same time. You have to pick one.

Michael Stewart
You can’t make excuses and make money at the same time, folks, if boy. Ooh, I got chills. That was all. Well, thanks again. Be sure to go to Alicia little.com in two weeks, come back. You know, one of the things I want to leave folks is my passion is the music industry. That’s you can see there’s music all over this room. And Nashville is full of so many music people hurting right now. Alicia, just like us. You know, I remember when we used to go to events as speakers, it felt like we were rock stars going to a concert. And we were the acts Yeah. And everything was the same. I mean, people it I laugh at it. People wanted my autograph back in the day. You know, we couldn’t have dinner without somebody saying, Can I get a picture with you? Can I ask you, you know, and you and always remember, you know, you’re always treat people with respect because they just want to they just, you know, they’re hungry,

Alicia Lyttle
hungry.

Michael Stewart
You know, and and you don’t need to be a jerk to people. But I found I realized I didn’t want to be a famous celebrity. I don’t see how Elvis or Michael Jackson or the Beatles existed because you know, they couldn’t even go out to dinner. But my point I’m making about this is is that the music industry right now is not embraced the internet like they could should have 20 years ago. My why and why I live in Nashville. Is that what I did you know what you just said, I helped you guys, and you guys are off and running. And that’s awesome. But I want to help my brothers and sisters in music. And I want my brothers and sisters in music to know about Alicia little, my gosh, what she can teach you. You need to learn go check out our websites. Thank you again.

Alicia Lyttle
Thank you.

Michael Stewart
We’ll talk to you the next time bye

Michael Stewart
Hello, hello and welcome I’m Mike Stewart. And here we are at Mike Stewart dot live. So glad to be here. Waiting, hopefully some folks are going to be getting their seats and we can have some good q&a today, I don’t have a guest today I wanted to talk about some of my own case study examples of things that I’m doing with audio and video in a couple of businesses, and I want to document those things. And I want to share with you that if you make the commitment to create content online, and you make the commitment to do something regularly, you know, it holds you accountable, it’s, it’s really, you know, I am guilty of procrastinating. You know, it’s one thing to know how to do something, it’s another thing to want to learn how to do something. And it’s another thing to make the commitment to do it regularly. You know, there’s a lot of things that applies to, but the health of your business and the health of your your mind. And everything you know, makes a commitment to sticking to a program and and being held accountable. That’s why having a coach having a mentor holds you accountable. going live for me holds me accountable to the one of the probably the most important things that I’m doing these days for my business, which is content marketing. So you know, I don’t know if you’re on my mike Stewart dot live website if you’re on YouTube or Facebook. But one of the things that I’m doing, and I’m teaching and dot live secrets, which by the way, I’ll bring up our sponsor here. This The show is brought to you by dot live secrets.com go live, repurpose and archive, the ultimate content marketing solution? Well, you know, it’s not only do I teach it, do I recommend it to my coaching clients, to my business owner, colleagues, but I do it myself, because it’s that important. These days, this day and age. You know, we hear about SEO, or search engine marketing, or search engine optimization. And there’s been some evidence that it’s really, really hard to get ranked in the search engines for certain keywords that bring you customers. And it’s a cat and mouse game. I wish SEO was was doing better than but you know, we’ve seen, in fact, there was a report I read read recently that SEO is 50% of what it was 10 years ago, doesn’t mean it’s gone away. It just means that there are two other ways to, to get found online and build relationships of know, like and trust. And one of those is paid advertising, which I’m a huge supporter of a big fan of paid advertising. That’s called search engine marketing, Google AdWords, Facebook ads, Twitter ads. I mean, there’s all kinds of folks out there there, recommend ways that you can get people to your content and your websites. But content marketing is the commitment to make good content, do it and one of the ways that I’m doing it is by going live, and then repurposing that content. So let me let me pull up a slide that I’ve built here and kind of just go through what’s going on with me these days. And I’m going to pull up my slideshow over here, it’s over on this monitor, I got to bring it down to this monitor. This way I can share it with you.

Michael Stewart
There we go. And I’m gonna get over here. And I’ll bring up my slides. So one of the things I want to talk about today is how my live streams like Mike Stewart dot live, I’ve got two live streams that I do. And one is in a vertical of pest control. And I’m going to share with you things that we’re doing with audio and video and marketing and content marketing. You know, my good friend, Jeff herring, is the content guy. He’s the guy who has templates because people struggle with what content to make. You know, one of the things about going live, I have to think about Okay, I got two weeks to think about what the next show is what guest Am I going to have and I’ll be honest with you, I was wanting a guest for today that couldn’t make it. So I said you know what, I’m going to go solo today and talk about what I’m doing with content marketing. So number one, if you’ve never seen Gary Vaynerchuk content marketing pyramid, you should look at that it’s free on the internet, just Google Gary Vaynerchuk content marketing process and you’ll see that this is a slideshow about 80 slides of the the massive amounts of content marketing that he does in his business. So I’m don’t have near the energy He does. He’s, you know, half my age. And he’s just a powerhouse of energy. But he made a comment one time, he said, I should be doing 1000 pieces of content a day 1000 pieces of content a day, 7000 month 28,000 pieces of content a month. Now he has a huge team that helps him make that reality. He says that’s what he wishes he was doing 5000 pieces of content a day, which I think is pretty unrealistic. I am committing to two major pieces of what’s called pillar content. What you’re witnessing right now is my pillar content. What you’re witnessing right now is me making commitment that on the second and fourth Monday of the month, I’m going to try to deliver some really good content. And then the marketing strategy is I’m building content that lives on the internet forever and can be repurposed. In fact, the slogan I have here is I’m going live, then I repurpose that content, and then it’s archived on the internet forever. And it has links back to the all the things that are my business. So my pillar content and your pillar content with audio and video, the easiest way to make content is just talk to people just like I’m talking to you. And I see people are coming in here, I look forward to maybe taking some live questions here at the end. But at the end of the day, you can see that’s that’s what this is based on. Now I wanted to share with you my two live streams that I’m doing that I’m doing, going live repurposing, and I am archiving and how do I archive this content, YouTube video, Facebook video, I stripped out the audio, it becomes my podcast, I transcribe it, it becomes a blog post, and then you can chop it chop it up, as Gary says into micro pieces of content. So in other words, you can take one thing that takes you you know, I average 2020 to 30 minutes. By myself, when I have a guest, it seems like we get into all kinds of tangents. And the next thing you know, an hour has gone by, but the thing is going live makes me make this pillar content. And I do it here. And in fact, I’ve invite you we did a show earlier this morning. For the pest control energy. This is a live stream just for a vertical, an essential business. I mean, it doesn’t matter what the vertical is real estate, haircare, healh, whatever business, whatever passion you have, you know, you could do a live stream about your passion. And then of course, point people back to the things that make you money, whether it’s a coach or performance or you name it, but we do it in the pet our audience, really our audience for Pest Control marketing dot live, could be anyone because if you just put your business in place where we say pest control, it would apply to you because they’re their direct response marketing principles. But when you’re talking to people in your niche, one of the things about my partner how Coleman, he was a pest control owner, so they really relate to him. And I get to share that trust and like ability, because I’ve partnered with somebody who is really a pest control guy, I mean, I could do this in real estate, but I’m not a real estate guy. I don’t know, the real estate business, not like a real estate person would are on and on and on. So anyway, the point is, is when I do a live stream with a partner like this, it holds me accountable. It’s like, I know, I’ve got to make a commitment to make the pillar content. And I wanted to show you the case study. So like I said, I have two pillar contents that I’ve come in committed to, I could do more. But in fact, I just saw Pat Flynn, who is one of the top podcasters in the world just put out an email that he has gone live every day for the since the start of the pandemic 200 live videos. That’s the kind of commitment some of the rock stars of content marketing do. And and I’ll be the first to admit I don’t want to do that much. But I’ll tell you what, what I’m doing is working and it’s better than doing nothing. So anyway, those are my two live streams, pod crunch. And in fact that’s why I got the URLs dot live. I want to make those my channels it’s really easy to remember I mean Pest Control marketing dot live, Mike Stewart dot live but one of the reasons I put my live stream on Mike Stewart dot live is there’s a lot of well known Mike Stuart’s in the world. Right here in Nashville. There’s a congressman, Mike Stewart and you Google Mike Stewart here in Nashville. all his stuff comes up. You Google Mike Stewart on the Google on Google worldwide. A body surfer famous surf guy or guy from California comes up named Mike Stewart. So I want my folks to know how to find me. That’s why I dominate live streaming for Mike Stewart. That’s why Mike Stewart dot live is all about me. It’s not I get this question all the time. Do you have to use a dot live? Absolutely not. But what you can’t control is when somebody hears something and what they remember. I hope that everybody hears this that knows that. If you want to get To my content that I am archiving on the internet, all you got to remember is four words Mike Stewart dot live those four words, and I dominate the search engines with content marketing. So how does live streams make us money? Well, what we do it really both of our websites, I’ve already had evidence of this, and I really haven’t been doing this. Since I think June, you know, really, since the pandemic hit that I got serious, I said, Oh, my gosh, you know how to podcast my, you know how to do YouTube videos, you know, all these things, but you’re procrastinating, you’re not doing what you teach others to do. You know, I did a lot of things, video sales letters, and I and we had been doing a podcast for the last three years in pest control. And it’s been making us money, because it’s building a know, like, trust factor with our audience. And, and in fact, I have to

Michael Stewart
give credit to my partner Hal Colman, he for years, he says, Mike, we need to do a TV show and online TV show. And I said, well, the technology is, you know, you can do zoom, but it’s it you know, you really need to do you a live stream, the illness, social media sites, and you need to do it to YouTube. And I said, there’s a piece of software called OBS, and I said, it’s just really just not, it’s not very friendly. And I don’t want to do it on zoom, because zoom is meeting software. Well, when joined stream yard came along. That’s what I’m using. Now. That’s that’s what changed everything this year. And so hence why we’re doing our live stream that way, and we started making it but what I really discovered about it was the re purposing opportunity. In other words, once I get done with this piece of content, my podcast is done. My blog is done. My social media is posted. I mean, I do one act, and I’m getting all this re-purposing of content marketing. And then I get also this opportunity to know it lives on the internet. For many years to come, I archive everything at our websites, if people can remember the four words, Pest Control marketing dot live, that’s five words, or Mike Stewart dot live, or they google it or they can go to the URL, that content is archived there. And so they can binge Listen, binge watch, in all these multiple places. So anyway, our content is making relationships with our target market. And of course, we’re surrounding our websites with links and backlinks to the things that make us money like our coaching programs, our membership sites, our downloadable programs. And one of my passions. You can see here, I have musical instruments here, my passion, I’m selling marketing music, what I call search term jingles to the pest control industry, and it’s working, and they’re using these jingles in their podcasts, everything is cross pollinated. And it’s all because of getting a relationship built online while I’m doing other things.

Michael Stewart
Now, let me tell you how we’re building our audience. And this is something that you can do. But this is working for the pest control, I will I need to do it for my own business, I haven’t started doing this, but we are buying advertising, very cheap advertising, to give away a free book called How to control your pest control business. So in other words, you should write a book, How To Grow whatever business you consult, or whatever business you do, and give it away. We did a program this morning on Pest Control marketing live about the power of giving things away free. And the power of reciprocity. When when you when you give away something of value to somebody, that’s called a freemium. And people are more apt to do business with people that were willing to give something first without any expectation. The reason I’m doing this content and giving it away free is because it’s the right thing to do. But in some of my networking groups, they actually have a slogan, givers get meaning that you know, when you’re willing to give away enough information to build a relationship, a percentage of the people will come back to you and do business. So in other words, be willing to build a relationship by giving something away free so we are paying advertising to get people to download our free book, and then that gets them on our email list, which we broadcast to them every time we do an episode. Hey, we’re going live, don’t miss it. And it’s building our audience and it’s doing the same thing. A lot of you here may be here because I emailed some of you may be subscribed to my YouTube channel. Some of you may follow me on Facebook. The I see people are here live now. But there’s a lot more that could come but it’s not just about going live. It’s about the fact that people can subscribe to it. Listen to it on demand. It’s the binge watching binge listening phenomenon of the internet, you know, Netflix and all those places have proven that. So let me get my mouse down here. So just to show you look at all the free books that we’ve given away in just the last 10 days, those are people getting in our funnel all from a free book that works on autopilot, we there’s no work here involved, it’s just set up. And that we know that these are targeted prospects, that we want to build a relationship, we haven’t tried to sell them anything. We just now have identified them. And we get them to go to our live stream, subscribe to our YouTube channel, get on our Facebook group, all of those things to build that relationship. And of course, we email that list to watch us live, you just like I email you, I’ve got an email list that’s built over years, we’re not trying to sell anything, all we’re trying to do is create great content that people will get value from and we know a percentage of those people will reach out because we do make it easy for you to reach out to us and do business with you. And that’s the lesson here. Then, in the live stream, which becomes our podcast, which becomes our YouTube videos, US becomes a Facebook post. And this is all instantly when I when I turn this system off. I’m 10 minutes from the podcast posting takes me another five minutes to transcribe it@otter.ai the YouTube video is already posted. It’s already configured, the Facebook post is already there. And then we’re linking back to the things by the way, the only sponsor on our shows are us. I don’t try to get outside sponsors, the only sponsor for my show or for the pest control show, or the things that make us money. And so that’s a good segue for me right now. Dot Live  Secrets is here and I am more excited about this training than any offer I have made in years. Content Marketing is the way you build visitor traffic to your online business offers. Some say the only organic SEO left. When you make the commitment to create a regularly scheduled live show. Repurpose that show as a YouTube video podcast and apple and Spotify as a Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn post and transcribe that audio and text for articles means it is the fastest easiest way to do content marketing and have audience engagement. My course has three offers, do it yourself done for you. And a financed search term jingle bundle. I believe in this so much. I made the commitment to go live, purpose and archive myself. So go to dot live secrets.com. And you can start going live re-purpose an archive yourself.

Michael Stewart
Alright, um, my monitor here made a mistake. So that’s that’s the that’s the danger of going live. So any rate? Um, let’s pick back where were we worse now I just want to show you text messages from this week to show you that guys that this is social proof This is real. Um, this was a text that I got. My name is Josh and I’ve been listening to your podcast for a few weeks now. I’m starting a new pest control company in New Jersey. And you can see there on and on. I have a I have a acquire them. Let’s see what this is. I just need guidance through the process. You seem like a good fit. Let me know I’m available. And in fact what what he was saying here was, you know, there was no selling, there was absolutely no selling. This is just because I gave the ability to connect with me. And when I talked to this young man, Josh, he admitted to me that he binge listened to 40 of our podcasts. And then there here’s another one. There’s happened the other day, when are you available to help me set up a website? Thanks, john. So I’m just telling you, that content marketing is working for you while you’re doing other things. It’s real. And of course, this is something else that was kind of exciting just this week. One of the businesses that I do is I produce and manage podcasts for business clients. In fact, what you just heard a moment ago is my SERP term jingle. A search term jingle is my terms that I’m number one in Google for my dot live secrets brings up dot live secrets. Mike Stewart dot live all of those things that you’re hearing. I’m trying to be and establish in my audio. But we started doing the faith Pest Control podcast with a Pest Control Agency in North Georgia. And I got a text Actually, this week, I just sold a 1400 dollar termite job specifically, as a result of our podcast about treating termites. It’s just thought you’d like to know that, you know, I wanted to show you that sometimes you feel like, you know, am I doing this for nothing. But you know, I can tell you from consistently doing it, the first time I did it, I didn’t have live listeners. And I can see now I’ve got a lot more this is, thank you, folks, this is the biggest attended show I’ve had to date. And that means the q&a will even be more fun. And I you know, one of the things it’s all about, you know, binge watch us go back and watch it again, share it with your friends, it becomes social media, people ask me all the time, um, what what can I do about my social media, and I’m saying, Are you making media worth being social, social media just means content that’s being shared. And most of the time, that content is not constructive content, this is constructive, positive content, designed to help people whether we do business or not, and then we will, you know, as a business owner, that a percentage of the people can and will do business with you, if you if your intention, you know, if you’re, if what you teach is real, I just want to share with you that content marketing with, with my concept here is holding me accountable and making me do what I need to do. And then of course, one of the last things I want to mention about my passion about podcasting, which is what I’m doing right now, I’m doing a live stream going to turn it into a podcast. Um, this was huge. When Amazon said, We want your podcast, I mean, I got an email because I had a podcast, for pest control and for myself, and I was in Google and I was an apple. And so the question you got to ask yourself, if you’re not podcasting, if you’re not content marketing, if you’re not doing some sort of strategy, to hold you accountable to do something on a regular basis, and three of the largest tech successes ever on board, or wanting podcasts, you know, I’m in Google, I’m an apple, I’m an Amazon, you should be too. So here’s kind of the wrap up of that. And then we’ll take some questions here. My past business and my mike Stewart business, those are two businesses of mine, and both of them are

Michael Stewart
growing, even in spite of the crazy Times ran even in spite of the pandemic. Because, you know, unfortunately, unfortunately, there’s some businesses out there that are suffering, and we got to do everything we can to help people. So that’s why I figured giving away lots of great free content as a good thing to do. But at the same time, you know, work with businesses that are essential businesses, like pest control, and, and marketing and online marketing, I mean, learn from the big tech guys. So here’s the formula for building content marketing, using podcasting, blogging, and YouTube, live streaming, and Facebook Live, go live at a regular time, like me, I could, you know, I committed to twice a month, second and fourth Monday of the month, I want to in, make people be aware of that. That’s the regular time I’m going to do my best to never missed a second and fourth Monday of the month. Now, why didn’t I commit to more, because I’ve got a lot of other things I’m doing that I’m passionate about. And I didn’t want to make a commitment I couldn’t keep. So it’s better to do it once a month than then ever do it. It’s better to do it twice a month than once a month, I was talking to my good friend in one of our shows previously, which you ought to go back and listen to some of these other shows. Tom Antion was great. I’m gonna have Tom back again. He said he does three podcasts a week, this is a guy who poo pooed on podcasting, and now could trace all kinds of new business, he’s up to episode like 250 in three years, you know, and I’m ashamed to admit I’m only about Episode Seven here with this podcast. But you know what, at the end of the year, I’m going to have a whole lot more podcasts. I mean, you know, two a month means times as 24 podcasts that I’ll have done by the end of the year. Now, let’s see here. I’ve got pulled pull it back to the camera here. So any rate and then let me put that slide back up there. It this little monitor made a little mistake here. I’ll bring it back. It must have a timer on it that makes it shut down for no reason. All right, here we go.

Michael Stewart
So and then I’ll make it bigger here so you can see it. Sorry for those folks on the podcast that can’t see it all the more reason to go to Mike store dot live and watch the podcast but you can listen to it in the car anyway. So I take that on after we get that done. I the only advertiser in my content is me. I’m an advocate of search term jingles, search terms. jingles is when you sing the words that help you get found in Google, we’ve been doing that with all kinds of businesses. I take my audio from this live stream and I instantly because the stream yard can download, I don’t even have to strip it. It’s already built. I transcribe it@otter.ai. And it becomes a blog post. And then I promote distributed on social media, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Spotify, and I do it again and again and again from now on. So So the main thing is

Michael Stewart
now let’s go look at we’ve gotten some questions over here. I’m going to go ahead and take questions here for the last few minutes. And let’s see what see what some folks have to say here.

Michael Stewart
lots of nice comments like Thank you, my good friend Mike increases the real estate guru of Canada. Another good Canadian friends. Good to see you, sir. Martin Wales.

Unknown Speaker
Oh, this man. Yes, it is a nice shirt. Sean Sean made my shirt here for me.

Michael Stewart
You know, always, always be promoting. That’s, that’s what you should be doing. And let’s see. Okay, Tom says write a book Great idea, the reciprocal approach, which helps them to Well, good. My good friend, David Cavanaugh. Hey, good to see you here. Sir. We’re getting a lot of a kudos here. Let’s see. How many subscribers Do you need to live stream on YouTube? Zero, you just open a YouTube account and start building subscribers. I’ll be the first to admit. In fact, you know, to share my channel with folks get people subscribed to me start a YouTube channel today, practice with your YouTube, go go get it go to join stream yard.com. And let me put that link up here in the banners. You want to go to join stream yard.com. And I’ll put that URL up here, join stream yard.com. And you can get a free account and start practicing. You know, you want to upgrade to the good it’s $25 a month to do all this magic. This is this is what I teach is what I use. And you know, you start even if there’s nobody listening, nobody watching. So that’s that’s one of the things and of course, I’m gonna put up my URL here that you know you that you want want you to go visit because that has all the links to my advertisers. Let’s see. Hi, Megan, how do you go live on YouTube? Well, yes, you have to have a YouTube channel. But if you’ve got a Gmail account, a Google account, you’ve got a YouTube channel, you just don’t want to ignore it. There’s a lot of settings to your YouTube channel that are important. You want to have linkbacks, you want to you know, we could spend that that’s, I’ve got a great live show on Mike store dot live with Ray lane that talks all about how the configuration and the things that you don’t want to ignore about YouTube. So Megan, you want to do that? Megan says, How do you transcribe my audio? Well, there’s lots of ways to do it. I mean, I’ve actually seen people teach transcriptions transcription, for free with YouTube. But you can do it for free at otter, just like the little little critter otter.ai transcription, you can get a free account, right now@otter.ai ai, that’s what I use. And I will put that I’ll put that link up there here. You can see it otter.ai iping it that’s where artificial intelligence that’s the website that I just upload my mp3 right? stream yard makes the mp3 I’m instantly go there. I hit upload, I come back as transcribed. And it’s 99% accurate. And sometimes I just leave in some of the typos because I want people reading the typos and telling me Hey, there’s a typo in your website that way. I know they’ve been to my site where my advertisers are. So anyway, that’s what I use. Thank you can thank you I totally believe that and and i want others doing that. That’s a great I’m gonna steal that information builds respect. Well, you know, we were talking about it this morning with my partner how, when you when you give away yourself free. It just tells the world the universe that you know to bring good things back to you so givers get You know, it’s the principle of tithing. There’s a great book, my wife always tells me, I need to read the “Richest Man in Babylon.:  And I should read it again. But it’s all about, you know, having good intentions, and, and, and trying to help others and all those good things. So let’s see here. Let me pull up some other things. Let’s see if there’s other questions here. So if you need domains in and hosting, don’t forget domains you control. That’s another one of my thanks. But let’s see in the questions here, because I don’t want to go too long. We’re almost a 30 Minute. Mark here. Anybody else? Good morning, Lynn. Glad you’re here. Let’s see. Thank you, Michael. Appreciate that.

Michael Stewart
All right, let me see what Tom, what, Tom, you may have to clarify this. So you get their email each time? Yeah, I mean, the only way we give away our free book is we ask for a name and an email and nothing more. And, and then that builds our list. And so we’re buying very cheap targeted ads, to give away a book to get an email address, which is valuable, and then we send, then we keep giving away to them, our, our free podcast, our free live stream. And of course, you know, we’re accomplishing all of these goals. We’re giving away free content valuable, I hope you felt that this morning had value. I didn’t do this just to try to be selling something, obviously, we’re in business to sell things. But the whole purposes is I want to build the relationship of trust first, you know, I want people to know, like, and trust me, and it’s a numbers game. There’s a lot of people on this planet, and everybody has the internet and you can reach them all. So what you what you want to do is create content that whether people do business with you or not, is good content. If all you do is create something that says, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag, buy from me, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag buy from me. There’s a lot of people that do that. I’m not here to I’m not bragging about anything. I’m just telling you what I’m doing. And I’m archiving it and this video will live for you for years to come. We had a had a situation yesterday, I’m involved with a great group out of Australia. I used to speak at their seminars and it was called the world in it summit. And it’s called click seminars. In fact, I’m doing it all week this week. I am the stream yard host for them because I learned how to manipulate the software pretty well. And and they think they think I have a personality that fits. So I call myself most of the folks in Australia don’t know what I mean. But you guys in the US. I’m the Ed McMahon of Click, click seminars dot live. And we had a wonderful guest speaker yesterday that was supposed to join us, Alicia Lytyll, Alicia. In fact, I want to have Alicia on the program sometime. We need to have some of you guys here today on the program. But But I got a lot of programs to do. So there’ll be a slot for everybody. But Alicia’s power was out in Atlanta because of the hurricane. And we had to think quick and we figured out how to play a recording. And from the last time, and people didn’t know that it wasn’t live. I mean, it was it was we had 10 minutes to figure out how to cover our cover our readers, that’s the thing about live television, you have to think fast on your feet. And when something goes wrong, you had to go Oh, what am I going to do? How am I going to fix it? going live has it’s you know it takes practice it you have to get used to looking at the camera talking on the microphone. And you’re not only are you the talent, not only you’re the content, but you’re also the director, you’re the guy who’s changing everything. So let’s see if we have any other questions here. Thank you, I love people making wonderful you know, Barry Thank you can can says he has my background music. Well, that’s awesome. You see, you know, I turned my passion you can you can see here in my studio, and I’ll show it sorry for the podcasters but you know, I’m all about making music. That’s why I moved to Nashville, Tennessee. I’m involved with a lot of music projects, because that’s my passion. And I turned my passion into making money. So you know, I’ve turned it into a business Yeah, you know, can I don’t like to hard sell myself, I want to build a relationship of trust. And then you make the you make the decision is what he said and what he brought as content to me. Would that apply to me? Would that help me? And so any right? Let’s see here. Hi, Pamela. Miss you guys. I’m glad to be on. You know the one of the things I love about this system is I’m on Facebook, I’m on YouTube. I’m on Mike Stewart dot live as Gary Vaynerchuk says be everywhere. Who said this? I love this land. Yes, it’s the law of reciprocity. Now the words when you put good things out in the world, it is a physical law that good things should come back. And and so I’m a firm believer in that. So let’s see if there’s any other questions here because I don’t want to miss any. Thank you, Vicki. Thank you. Everybody’s making great comments. I love this. Look at that. We love your music. That’s what you’re supposed to do land. That’s that. I love that feedback. And I need to make some more. If there’s no no other questions, we’ll probably wind it down here.

Michael Stewart
I’m the old dog, but I love new tricks. And I love music. And I love my family. Boy, I’ve got some I got the cutest grand-kids in the world. Golly, I love them. And but I I don’t love negativity, and I don’t love problems. I like solving problems. And I’m passionate about what a webcam and a microphone and music can do for people’s lives. And that’s that’s why I’m doing Mike Stewart live. So more importantly, if this is your last Tom, you know, you know a lot but for you to say you learned a couple of things. That was the purpose of of today’s episode. And thank you. Thank you, Pamela. Yeah, I’ll tell Susan Susan on the road. She’s been with the grand-kids all weekend. So we’re probably getting off a little bit subject. This is your last call for some questions, but great interactivity, this is what energizes a show is having, you know, people come live and interact with you. And and I you know, to see real human beings and real the world say you give great information and value that motivates you to want to do it again, I was almost it’s first doing these live things dreading them. Now I look forward to them, I start thinking about what am I going to do next? How can I make it better? What went wrong? How can I How can I make this thing live, you know, for a long time and help a lot of people. And then of course, at the end of the day, this is all about let’s be able to take care of our families and thrive and survive and the crazy world we live in. So 37 minutes, I probably you’re more more than welcome Lin. Thanks for all the great comments. We’ll be back in two weeks. If you have a chance you ought to check out click seminars dot live. Another one of my friends and concept. Having some great speakers yesterday, we actually had the great Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul, as is one of our presenters and he had an awesome presentation. Alicia little Armand Morin is this Friday, so Oh, okay. Well, here’s a good question. How pricey a stream yard Michael stream yard is free to practice and learn at first, and then I have the $25 a month account, I pay 200 and something a year unlimited live streams. My gosh, it’s probably one of the best values I’ve ever seen for doing all this stuff. And of course, I teach everything how I do that and dot live secrets. So check out but my affiliate link is join the stream yard.com You know, it doesn’t cost you anything but but me referring you to to stream yard. If you go to join stream yard.com it lets them know that I referred you. And if you ever thought about doing a podcast check out done for you podcast service calm. That’s something that I’m doing for Pest Control agencies. I’m doing it for all kinds of businesses, and going to have a lot of folks that are getting content marketing in place. So great questions today. Thanks, guys for being here. And in two weeks. We’ll have another show. Tell your friends. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast, subscribe to the YouTube channel. Subscribe to the email. Don’t unsubscribe from the email because I promise I won’t send you a lot of emails. I’ll just only send you emails when I think they’re important. And have a great day. We’ll see you next time.
